The Feast and nationally recognised children’s centre The Springfield Project, are pleased to announce we will be hosting two Faiths Act Fellows from the Tony Blair Faith Foundation, from September this year.

30 young people have been selected from the UK, US, Canada and India to join the Faiths Act Fellowship youth leadership program, out of almost 700 applications.  Their aim will be building understanding between different religious communities by mobilising them around the common global causes of early childhood welfare and eradicating deaths from malaria.

Steve Hirst (left), a Christian, has spent 2 years in Ghana establishing a charity working with street children and orphans, and presently works in the Community Department of the Birmingham City Football Club. Imandeep Kaur (below right), a Sikh, is finishing her masters studies in International Development at the University of Birmingham, while holding qualifications as a Personal Trainer and playing representative hockey.

Tim Fawssett from The Feast said “We are extremely pleased to be hosting Steve and Imandeep from the Faiths Act Fellowship.  They are accomplished young leaders who we believe will help us impact our community, engaging these two challenging problems – the health and wellbeing of mums and babies, and the scourge of malaria.”

Imandeep said “I feel truly blessed to be working not only on a global scale with the Foundation as a whole, but at a local community level with such inspirational organisations, to facilitate interfaith cooperation at all levels whilst advancing the Millennium Development Goals, and promoting how faith is a force for good in this age.”

Steve said he was thrilled to be awarded a Faiths Act Fellowship, and here in Birmingham.  “I am very excited about the prospect of working with The Springfield Project and The Feast, as these are both projects I have heard great things about!”
