Picture Perfect

Eve

In the beginning … what? Well, what do you think happened?  On a recent Saturday event we had 10 Christian and Muslim young people exploring just that.

Everyone agreed that this world was created by God or Allah, although we found we differed slightly in on the details.  Our beliefs differed on how long creation took, what was created when and the reason why we were created. It was great seeing this diverse mix of young Christians and Muslims disagree peacefully on the origins of this wonderful planet of ours and still have the ability to carry on and make friends with each other!

A focus of the day was to a lesson in on how to weld a camera by professional photographer Merryn Fawssett.  Then, despite the gloom of the rainy start to the day, we were really thankful to God that the sun came out and we were then able to put our new found skills to the test.

The group had a brilliant time being out and about in our local streets, parks and walkways of Sparkhill, looking at and capturing the natural beauty this area possesses.  Check out this gallery of their work.

And here is what our team of budding photographers had to say afterwards:

  • “This event with The Feast was a great way to find your artistic flair for photography and learn about two stories of creation.”
  • “It somehow erased my prejudices about people in other faith.”
  • “One difference I found we had was why we are here: to obey God vs. relationship with God.”
  • “It challenged me to accept the views and understanding from people of different faiths.”

What a fantastic day it was!  Why not leave a comment about what you believe happened at the beginning of time?
