We’ve been privileged to work with a Christian youth group from the lovely town of Kenilworth over the past years. In fact they were involved in our predecessor Youth Encounter before I joined The Feast. Some may ask why do young people in a small Warwickshire town need to learn how to engage with Muslims, as there are very few there. However Trustee Sue Proctor, and other youth leaders from St John’s have been actively involved over the years bringing young people to events to help them share their faith and make friends with Muslims. We’ve even had a few trips to Kenilworth, a refreshing change for the youths from inner-city Birmingham!
One young lady, Sarah Dickson, was involved in many events, including the trip to Turkey to meet with Lebanese peers last summer. She’s now at university and recently said this;
“What I’ve learned from The Feast has definitely helped me in Manchester… I’m living with a Muslim girl next year who is a good friend. I’m not sure whether the relationship would have been so strong if I hadn’t learned what I did with you guys so THANKS big time.”
So for those not living in multi-faith areas The Feast equips young people like Sarah with skills for the future, which is so important for our world. It’s a great privilege and encouragement to hear this story, and many others.

Well said, Sarah. You show that interacting with others different from oneself can open one’s mind and heart without losing one’s faith, but, in fact, strengthen it.
